Juan Pablo Saltre, CEO de Ventus, contó en una entrevista para Energía Estratégica los planes de expansión en Latinoamérica y el Caribe.

¿Cómo avanza el plan de expansión de VENTUS? 

 En Ventus percibimos el cambio como una necesidad natural que demandan nuestros clientes y el contexto. La capacidad de la empresa de poder entender esto y ser flexibles al cambio, ha permitido que desde Ventus hayamos podido avanzar hacia nuevos mercados fuera de América Latina, y sumar nuevas áreas de negocio complementarias.
En la actualidad Ventus cuenta con más de 900 colaboradores en 4 países. Producto de la consolidación en el los países donde operamos, la empresa está trabajando para desembarcar en Estados Unidos, con el propósito de ofrecer servicios de EPC para parques eólicos y solares.

 ¿En qué países están construyendo proyectos de renovables? 

En la actualidad la empresa construye más de 315 MW solares distribuidos en 17 proyectos en Colombia, Chile y Uruguay. En Colombia y Uruguay, por ejemplo, estamos construyendo los proyectos de autoconsumo industrial solar más grande de estos países. Este tipo de desafíos nos llenan de orgullo y nos empujan a seguir avanzando en América Latina.

 ¿Qué rol tomó el sector fotovoltaico para la firma? 

La construcción de parques solares se ha convertido en uno de los pilares de Ventus, así como los son la construcción de parques eólicos o la construcción de infraestructura.
Creo que en los últimos años Ventus ha logrado posicionarse como una empresa referente en la construcción de proyectos solares en países como Chile o Colombia.

 ¿Y el eólico?

 Desde su origen de Ventus es una empresa especializada en la construcción de parques eólicos. En Uruguay, el país de mayor penetración de energía renovables del continente, hemos trabajado en más del 50% de los MW eólicos instalado en este país.
Confiamos en poder continuar trabajando y llevando nuestro know how a los países donde operamos localmente, como Argentina, Chile, Colombia o incluso Estados Unidos.

 ¿A esto se debe el cambio de nombre de la marca? 

Siempre hemos sido Ventus. Seguimos siendo Ventus.  Pero estamos “perdiendo” el “energía”, y utilizando un nuevo dominio para facilitar el posicionamiento de la empresa en mercados por fuera de las renovables, como es la construcción civil.
El complemento “global”, nos permite alinearnos mejor a la estrategia de la empresa, que busca crecer también hacia nuevas geografías.

 ¿Qué ventajas consiguen al involucrarse en otras actividades además del sector energía?

Las sinergias naturales de los sectores en los que operamos, la gran capacidad de nuestros profesionales de adaptarse a los diferentes escenarios de negocio, así como una necesidad de optimizar los servicios que brindamos a nuestros clientes hizo que en 2019 Ventus abriera su unidad de Construcción de Infraestructura.
La Construcción de infraestructura nos permite brindar soluciones más integrales a nuestros clientes en un sector que es menos cíclico y que nos aseguran la perdurabilidad en el tiempo.
En la actualidad la empresa ha construido más de 10 proyectos en Uruguay y Argentina, que van desde polos tecnológicos, centros educativos, puentes alcantarillas o edificios.

In an interview with “Energía Estratégica”, Juan Pablo Saltre, CEO of Ventus, talked about the expansion plans in Latin America and the Caribbean.

How is VENTUS expansion plan progressing?

At Ventus, we see change as a natural need that is demanded both by our clients and the context. The company’s ability to understand this and to be flexible to change has allowed Ventus to move towards new markets outside of Latin America, and to add new complementary business areas.
Currently, Ventus has more than 900 employees in four countries. As a result of the consolidation in the countries where we operate, the company is working to land in the United States, with the purpose of offering EPC services for wind and solar farms.

 In which countries are you building renewable projects?

Currently, the company is building more than 315 MW of solar power distributed in 17 projects in Colombia, Chile and Uruguay. In Colombia and Uruguay, for example, we are building the largest solar industrial self-consumption projects in these countries. These type of challenges make us very proud and push us to continue growing in Latin America.

 What was the role of the solar sector for the firm?

The construction of solar farms has become one of the pillars of Ventus, as are the construction of wind farms or the construction of infrastructure.
I believe that in the last years, Ventus has managed to position itself as a benchmark company in the construction of solar projects in countries such as Chile or Colombia.

What about wind projects?

Since its inception, Ventus is a company specialized in the construction of wind farms. In Uruguay, the country with the highest penetration of renewable energy in the continent, we have worked in more than 50% of the wind MW installed in this country.
We are confident that we can continue working and exporting our know-how to the countries where we operate locally, such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia or even the United States.

 Is that the reason why the brand changed its name?

We have always been Ventus. We are still Ventus. But we are «losing» the «energy», and using a new domain to facilitate the positioning of the company in markets outside of renewables, such as civil construction.
The «global» complement allows us to better align ourselves with the company’s strategy, which also seeks to grow towards new geographies.

 What are the advantages of getting involved in other activities besides the energy sector?

The natural synergies of the sectors in which we operate, the great capacity of our professionals to adapt to different business scenarios, as well as a need to optimize the services we provide to our clients led Ventus to open its Construction Unit in 2019.
Infrastructure construction allows us to provide more comprehensive solutions to our clients in a sector that is less cyclical and that ensures durability over time.
Currently, the company has built more than 10 projects in Uruguay and Argentina, ranging from technology centers, educational centers, sewer bridges or buildings.
