International Meeting of Renewable Energies, promoted by the SER of Colombia and the World Energy Council (WEC), Oscar Ferreño, Director of Institutional Relations & Regulation of Ventus, together with Agustín Nerguizián, General Manager of Saceem Peru, presented the most important challenges regarding the construction of wind farms in La Guajira.

This instance gathered more than 500 people, among whom were references from the public and private sectors of the renewable energy sector in Colombia and the region.

Within this framework, Ferreño and Nerguizián presented the alliance between Ventus, the leading company in the construction of renewable projects in Latin America, and Saceem, the leading construction company in Uruguay, for the construction of Wind Farms in Colombia.

Both institutions have a history of building more than 350 MW in wind farms, and have had a significant impact on the development of renewable energy in Uruguay, the country with the highest penetration of renewable energy on the American continent.

On this occasion, the companies presented the most important challenges facing the construction of the next wind projects in La Guajira in the coming years. The particular challenges that the industry had to overcome in other geographies, referring to logistics and transport issues, were reviewed. The peculiarities of the Guajira area were also addressed, such as: the lack of water, the design of ports that can receive deep draft vessels, or even the relationship and work with local communities.

Commenting on the construction of wind farms in Colombia, Oscar Ferreño commented: “by 2021 Colombia will have the challenge of building some 1,500 MW of wind power, for which it will be essential to address the challenges of the country’s geography, as well as to count with companies that have the necessary experience to grant these types of projects. Ventus and Saceem join forces to share their know-how in construction and project execution, their track record in large infrastructure works, as well as their financial capacity in the local market. ”

Agustín Nerguizián, from Saceem added: «The global projections of energy consumption indicate that wind will undoubtedly be a fundamental source of generation. Colombia has practically unique wind potential in the world, which is why it should follow the global trend. To successfully overcome the challenge, our experience in Uruguay indicates that it is essential that all actors align behind the same objective; all the government entities involved, whether they are from the economic, productive, energy, as well as environmental sectors, communities, generating companies, builders, technologists, logistics companies, etc. They must work in coordination, under the same energy development policy. ”

[/tp]

[tp lang=»es» not_in=»en»] El pasado 12 de marzo, en el marco del 4to.
