In this 2019 the company is focused on providing EPC construction solutions, both for long-term auctions, promoted by the Colombian government, as well as helping industries include renewable energies into their consumption matrix.
Many international companies have gathered in our contry to promote the development of renewable energy. In this framework Ventus has entered Colombia, working with large construction companies, with the aim of building wind and solar farms and replicate the experience generated in Uruguay, where he built more than 30 renewable projects in EPC modality.
At the same time, the company is working on PPA and EPC solutions for industrial self-generation, thanks to the 1715 law which promotes the investment in renewable energy.

Are industries and companies interested in generating clean energy?
There is growing interest from industries and companies that request the use of clean energy. In fact, many industries have contacted us requesting preliminary studies for the implementation of a renewable project that, beyond the technology used, may allow them to save on their costs through green energy supplying.
In this context, Ventus has extensive experience advising more than 50 companies in Uruguay, where we have built wind and solar projects according to the needs of the industries.

What is your opinion of the Promotion Law N ° 1715 on renewable energies?
Law 1715 was launched by the Colombian government to promote the use of clean energy to encourage investors and developers to invest in the country. The law promoted in 2014 grants tax benefits for industries allowing them to cut up to 50% of the investment in renewable energy projects.
For this type of projects, it is important to point out that there are important cost reductions for imported products or services and tax cuts, which improves the attractiveness of this type of project.
Locally we perceive that industries are aware of the need of consuming clean energies. At the same time, those industries that pay the most, have shown a growing interest in lowering the cost of their energy consumption.

In what periodo f time a large energy consumer could repay the investment of renewable energy sources taking into account the benefits of the Law?
For an industry, depending on its demand and its energy consumption, the repay of a renewable project (depending on the years that this rent discount is used), can reach repayment periods of 5 years. This is tremendously convenient for industries, considering that renewable energy projects have a lifespan of 25 years.
At Ventus we have built several projects for industries that have managed to repay their renewable projects successfully in very short periods.

Do you consider that the auction are improvable? In what aspects?
There is always room to improve the conditions of an energy tender. Colombia is beginning its journey towards the inclusion of Renewable Energies. In this case, I believe that the alignment between the auction of supply and demand is perfectible.
Anyway, at Ventus we are optimistic about the direction that renewable energies have taken in the country. We believe that through greater training of all the players in the sector, including the benefits that the industrial sector has when investing in this type of technology, we will be able to move Colombia towards a renewable matrix.

[/tp]

[tp lang=»es» not_in=»en»] Fuente: Energía Estratégica Latam Entrevista a Victor Tamayo, Country Manager de Ventus en Colombia.
