[/tp]

[tp lang=»en» not_in=»es»]

Last Tuesday, May 8, Oscar Ferreño, Director of Institutional Relations & Regulations in Ventus Energía, participated in the panel of Distributed Energy in the event “The solar future in Argentina” of the organization Solar Plaza.

The panel comprised figures of great importance in the Argentinian market: Maximiliano Morrone, National Director of Promotion of Renewable Energies; Marcelo Alvarez, President of Cader and Acad. Ing.; Oscar Ferreño, Director of institutional relations in Ventus Energía.

The theme that ruled the panel was the new prevailing regulations for Distributed Energy, that allows all consumers to be generators. All speakers agreed that this new legislation is disruptive, and drastically modifies the energy matrix in Argentina.

When analyzing the reality of the local market, Ferreño commented: “In the last two years, Argentina has lived a profound energetic transformation. One of the most notorious exponents of this transformation is the incorporation of Non-Conventional Renewable Energies, mainly wind and solar.”

“While in principle the inclusion of renewable energies is to comply with a law, in Argentina and in the region there are two fundamental aspects. The first one is that renewable generation is price competitive. The second one is that the importance of scale economies has decreased.”

Some years ago, to think about a competitive and efficient wind turbine, one had to resort to mega generations like combined cycles of 500 to 1000 MW. Nowadays, one can obtain competitive prices with a few MW of wind energy or some kW or solar energy,” commented Ferreño.

In relation to the commented saturation of renewable energy transmission lines, Ventus’ director commented that “one can take advantage of the new legislation through the inclusion of low power solar generators, found in consumers, reducing transmission needs.”

“Surely sooner rather than lately, electronic systems will evolve to a scheme where clients will pay distributers for the use of interconnection lines, and will produce the energy and the power necessary for their consumption, commercializing their surplus bidders in a free market,” concluded Ferreño.

[/tp]
