¡Gracias!

[/tp]

[tp lang=»en» not_in=»es»]

Micaela Balzarini, member of Ventus Engineering team, shares her experience regarding her participation in building the 1st sustainable school in Argentina.

My experience in the last two weeks has been a landmark and turning point in my life. I’ve been hearing about Michael Reynolds, his Earthships and construction systems for months. It’s incredible that only a few months later I had the chance to take part in a project like this – which does not only combines the idea of a sustainable construction but also introduces a new pedagogical paradigm where children grow surrounded by nature and learn how to use resources by respecting nature and connecting with it.

The construction of this new school is the combined forces of Tagma, Earthship Biotecture (jointly with N4VE) and Amartya, a civil organization engaged with the promotion of a culture of sustainability through education, by coordinating with the public, social and private sectors. It works with shantytowns in the City of Buenos Aires and Mar Chiquita.

During the first weeks of construction, the Earthship Accademy holds workshops where students from across the world attend theoretical/practical classes to learn about this construction method; they put their learning into practice and promote a good cause. In this 30-day process, more than 120 volunteers helped.

After an intense work on design, planning, procurement and delivery within Ventus, we arrived at Mar Chiquita with Federico Lombardo – head of the solar power department – to install solar panels for the school.

Honestly, the motivation you feel there is great. The happiness of hundreds of people working from early in the morning until late to make these children’s dream come true is really shocking. Everyone does everything. Everyone is learning from the other and teaching at the same time.

The vigor of the volunteers and the work of the community, engaged as only one team, explain how this building could be constructed in only 45 days.

With Federico, we did not take long to enjoy their enthusiasm. We set out the roof; we designed the panels support scheme and finally proceeded with the installation. During the installation, we were accompanied by people from N4VE and several volunteers, who were eager to learn everything about solar energy.

I also had the opportunity to participate at a Workshop held by N4VE where I could learn, visualize and take part in the construction of the entire sustainable construction system.

I’m very happy about being able to contribute in this great project and of being part of a company that really cares about the future and clearly shows it, not only through its daily work by providing confidence to its employees to enrich them personally and professionally, but also through the participation and support in this kind of projects that benefits us all as society.

I’m proud to say “I was in Mar Chiquita” and participated in the construction of the first sustainable school in my country. I encourage everyone to experience this, because it’s really fantastic and revolutionary.

Thank you very much!

io.

[/tp]
